It is easy to travel between the U.S. Virgin Islands, in fact - we do it all the time here! There is a ferry from Red Hook, on the East end of St. Thomas that travels to Cruz Bay, St. John every hour on the hour during the day and evening. The downtown ferry travels between Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas and Cruz Bay, St. John during the day time.

Varlack Ventures Auto Rental is located right in the heart of Cruz Bay St. John. That means that when you rent a vehicle from us, we will guarantee a parking spot will be reserved for you (during operating hours) in our secured lot while you are in town! Also there are available spaces that can be used after hours!

We also accommodate late arrivals to St. John and we offer to pick you up at the Westin Resort.

Disembark from the St. Thomas - St. John Passenger Ferry and walk straight ahead 1 block and turn right at First Bank. Varlack Ventures is on the right.

8 am to 5 pm AST, Seven days per week.

If you are arriving after hours, it would be best to take a taxi to your lodging when you arrive and reserve your car starting first thing the next morning.

Driving on St. John

St. John is located about 4 miles east of Saint Thomas, and is a little island only 8 miles long. We have no highways, stoplights, or fast food.

The island is mostly made up of pristine beaches, hiking trails, plantation and distillery ruins and untouched beauty.

Driving Tip #1

Driving on St. John is relaxing and enjoyable as long as you remember a few basic, and important rules - the number one being DRIVE ON THE LEFT. #2 is always where your seat belt.

The speed limit in town is 10 MPH and 25 MPH, unless otherwise marked, outside of town. Stay slow and keep an eye out for the animals and hitch hikers that share the road with you.
