CORAL BAY DINING & SHOPPING . . . Although most modern
conveniences have reached Coral Bay it still seems to reside in
the past. It is slower, dustier and definitely more peaceful than
the busy island's center of Cruz Bay.
The dips and curves on the drive between the two communities accentuate
the feeling of truly leaving your busy life behind.Wild goats, free
roaming domestic stock, and the occasional deer share the road with
you. The tropical forests with dense vines, luscious flowering trees
and native shrubs give way, on many turns, to surprising & glorious
vistas down into the bays and out over the turquoise water to other
islands.

"We're all here 'cause we're not all there"
Coral Bay is a fitting destination to such a trip. The restaurants
and shops are fewer but the selection and quality are strong and
are owned, staffed and frequented by the locals. People of many
talents have found their way to this spot and whenever possible
find a way to share their passions. You will relax there but you
won't get bored and you cannot be a stranger long on this end of
the island.
For a start you might come over for an egg-perfect pancake-stacked
breakfast plate at M & M's Donkey Diner (check daily schedule).
It is in the same courtyard as Sputniks, where you might end up
late some evening listening to some true Caribbean vibes. Most of
the bars & restaurants have an eclectic and lively music schedule.
Island Blues is a music favorite for locals and visitors alike and
Skinny Legs is home for the world renowned Skinnies Burgers. Dawdle
over a late gourmet dinner at Voyagers of St. John. If you arrive
early in the morning join the locals for a coffee at 6:30 am at
Coral Bay's deli, Take a Break Cafe, there you can pick up the paper,
or watch the news, get a cooked meal to take home or have a generous
deli sandwich. Or you can follow the road on out towards Salt Pond
for other dining treats.
